Knowledge and Technology Transfer (WTT)

In accordance with Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz's slogan "Theoria cum praxi", LIKAT strives to conduct research for the benefit and benefit of the community. This means making scientific findings and competencies accessible to society and, in the best case, putting research results into practice.

One focus at LIKAT is on close cooperation with industry. On the basis of third-party funding, we take on development tasks whose results are directly applied.

Knowledge and technology transfer also means the identification, further development and utilization of exploitation potentials. Research results can serve as a basis for political decisions or new technologies.

The direct dialog with society or "users" enables research questions to be constantly adapted and strategies to be improved.

Transfer Technical Center "Catalysis2Scale"

With the institute's own transfer technical center, which is unique in northeastern Germany, for testing and transferring chemical research results from the laboratory to practice (pilot scale), the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis has another significant unique selling point. The transfer technical center was opened in 2022 and enables in-house piloting for the transfer of innovative laboratory results from catalysis research into practice. This opens up further avenues for collaboration with SMEs and non-chemical user industries that do not themselves have corresponding capabilities.

It also provides the basis for closer networking between researchers at the University of Rostock and other research institutions in Rostock and MV through joint use.
