Technical Service Department
The Technical Service Department bundles the building services, the workshops and the glassblowing unit.
The building services team takes care of ventilation, fume hood maintenance and fire protection, among other things. The employees in the workshops carry out routine repairs and maintenance as well as precision mechanical or welding work and the construction of special apparatus.
In addition to small routine repairs, the in-house glassblowing workshop mainly manufactures various highly specialized glassware and glass parts for laboratory equipment in direct consultation with our scientists. At events such as the Long Night of the Sciences, glassblower Matthias Auer opens his doors and allows a look behind the scenes.
