Open Access

Against the backdrop of excellent scientific productivity, LIKAT will in future strive above all to increase the quality, visibility and impact of its publications. High relevance and quality of the research results as well as the reputation and quality of the publication medium are the prerequisites for the greatest possible impact.

In addition to transparent, comprehensible and evaluable quality indicators and criteria (e.g. peer review, good scientific practice), publication as open access plays a key role.
LIKAT participates in various transformation agreements (publish & read, PAR), which aim to change the publication system so that scientific works can be read and used by third parties free of charge. The publishing institution pays a so-called PAR fee per publication, which covers the costs of open access publication as well as the reading rights.

LIKAT encourages its scientists to publish their research results in accordance with the Open Access principle. This can be done directly via Open Access first publications or, within the scope of legal possibilities, via Open Access secondary publications in repositories.
In the case of direct Open Access publication, the Institute strongly recommends publication under a free Creative Commons license; this is the only way to guarantee free access.

Key objectives and criteria for publishing at LIKAT are set out in the publication guidelines
