Catalytic Functionalization

Dr. Jola Pospech

The major focus of our research is the streamlined installation of functional groups onto organic frameworks by means of organocatalytic direct functionalization of aliphatic C−H bonds via single-electron transfer processes, as well as the development of stereoselective transition metal-catalyzed olefin difunctionalization reactions. This endeavor requires purposefully design of reagents and catalysts and a profound mechanistic understanding of new catalytic pathways that translate into reliable and operationally simple processes.

Students with special interest in synthetic organic chemistry and method development in the area of homogenous photo- and transition metal catalysis are welcome to discuss opportunities to pursue laboratory practica, bachelor or master thesis as well as doctoral studies and are encouraged to contact Jola.Pospech{at}catalysis.de .
