Currently the department comprises of two research groups which focus on the following topics:
- Micro Reaction Engineering (temporary - Dr. Heike Ehrich)
- Microstructured reactors for chemical synthesis and production in fine chemicals
- Inorganic Functional Materials (Dr. Sebastian Wohlrab)
- Syntheses and testing of solid catalysts and inorganic membranes
