The main research interests are theoretical investigations into the fields:
(a) organometallic chemistry – structure and stability of transition metal complexes and clusters;
(b) homogenous catalysis – reaction mechanisms of catalyzed organic transformation with transition metal complexes or metal clusters;
(c) heterogeneous catalysis – surface structure and stability of solid catalysts, and the respective reactions on the active sites of the surface;
(d) physical organic chemistry - organic reactions, mechanisms, intermediates and stability as well as reactivity.
